Pretty As An Airport Project

Nicole Wolverton contacted me about setting up branding and site for her new Travel Blog, Pretty As An Airport. The title of the blog comes from one of both mine and her favorite Douglas Adams quotes, “It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the expression ‘As pretty as an airport.’” from the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

I happened to find a great role as a Product Manager for a live video product in June 2014. Being a developer first, though, I was concerned about the learning curve and everything I came across online could be summed up with “it’s a hard transition” without any real information, so my Developer to Product Manager blog was born.

While I am a bit biased, my daughter is becoming an amazing artist. She has become just a bit obsessed with the Asian influenced style of drawing, and uses some fabulous but highly expensive Copic markers. To help offset the cost of these markers, she asked me to build a website for her to sell custom artwork. She chose the domain and layout, and I built out what is currently a portfolio WordPress site, but will expand to full E-Commerce capable when she starts selling prints.

The Movie Closet

The Movie Closet

As the pilot site in the Sidewalk Fields network, The Movie Closet is a podcast site that needed to not only set up the feel for the rest of the network but also to be able to establish its own brand. Maine had already had the logo created and a sizable archive of podcasts that needed to be recovered, and I designed a site to hold them from there, along with allowing scalability down the road.
