AJ Overcomes – Cyberbullying Project

I met the owner of Volo Press at a local writers group, and we hit it off, deciding to work together to help indie authors in the Atlanta area. This is our first project together, AJ Overcomes: Cyberbullying by Diandra Walker, a children’s book about cyberbullying and its effects. We went through a few revisions on this, coming up with something inviting without minimizing the seriousness of the topic.

Flowerbox Books is a new small press run by Aaron Bentzel. As he is just at the beginning of his journey as a small press owner, he needed a complete brand put together and I was more than happy to help him out to achieve something that would not only show his company’s professionalism but also center on his quirky side, as they’re going to be focusing on clients who are a little whimsical and unique themselves.

Ever since I was little, I loved to write. In 2019, I’m taking the plunge and I’m starting to publish my work. Because I’m working in multiple genres, it took me a long time to wrap my brain around how to structure an author site that encompasses a few genres without detracting from the author brand. With the branding, I wanted something simple that would translate across genre as well.

I’ll be honest that I feel a little strange adding this to my design portfolio, but I’m very happy with the results, and I wanted to share how to balance without pushing towards separate sites for each genre.

When Steve requested the book cover design for Red Peace, he also wanted to go ahead and have me work on a novella that he was writing at the time, giving it an 80’s vibe to riff off of the parody with the name of the novella. This cover was for e-book only.
